I have gathered a few window cleaning and maintenance tips that will help you maintain your glass and frames in top condition at all times.
Let’s start with the freezing windows problem. To keep your windows frost free when the temperature drops, you can add half a cup of antifreeze to 1 pint of water and apply to the outside of your windows. You can also apply glycerin to a lint free cloth and scrub the internal part of the glass.
How to make your own window cleaning solution
Did you know that you could make your own window cleaner at home? Get best results for a minimum wallet-damage by using one of the following solutions in a trigger spray bottle: half cup vinegar to 5 litres of water or half cup ammonia to 5 litres of water or half cup ammonia 2 cups rubbing alcohol, one teaspoon dishwashing liquid and 5 litres of water.
Useful tips for removing tape or sticky decorations from your window
Need to remove sticky stuff or tape from glass? No problem. You can remove tape from windows by simply scraping it with a razor blade. If you have no joy with that – try saturating with salad oil prior to the scraping. To remove the sticky residue from the tape you can spray a bit of wd-40 on the traces of adhesive or a specialist product from the supermarket. Either of these should make your window cleaning task complete.
I have heard that mayonnaise could also be considered a window cleaning substance although I haven’t tried that one. 🙂
If you need to get rid of the fake christmas snow from your windows then you can try a mixture of 1 part ammonia to 3 parts water. Scrub if necessary. Job done.
