- Wandsworth prison is a category B men’s prison and is the largest prison in London. It was built in 1851. The prison is operated by Her Majesty’s Prison Service. Between 1878 and 1961 the prison was the site of 135 executions. The prison today offers education and training courses, the facilities there include two gyms and a sports hall. The prison offers its prisoners training in radio productions and has received an award for its in-cell radio station called “Radio Wanno”.
