Windows are your eyes to view the bright and beautiful world outside your home. We all want our windows to be perfect and spotless and give us the clear views of the outside world. The windows in our house are dirtied by our hands while opening and closing them or while seeing and waving through them. They also collect dust, grime and dirt due to steady deposition from the outer as well as inner environments.

The window frames gather dirt and dust due to the weather and the debris that is caught up in the window tracks and so on. The windows should be cleaned completely. Some people clean only the screens or glasses and forget about the window frames. It is necessary to clean the window frames also to give your windows that squeaky clean look and enhance the aesthetics.

Window Frame Cleaning: First and foremost, you must start cleaning the outside window frame. Take a clean piece of terry cloth to remove the dirt from the grooves. You can clean the window tracks by using a vacuum cleaner. Then you must wipe the window frame starting from top, then proceeding to the sides and bottom. You can use the window cleanser or a mild soap solution to remove stains and smudges. You have to be very careful while cleaning the window frames and avoid spoiling the wall paint. Do not use abrasive materials for cleaning frames as they will surely cause scratches.

Cleaning Window Frames of Aluminium: If the aluminium window frames are painted, then you may use a solution of water and mild detergent. You can also use a commercial cleaner of mild variety whose label mentions that it can be used safely for painted surfaces. The solution has to be rinsed off afterwards. The excess water has to be wiped off using a dry cloth. One important thing to remember while cleaning window frames is that it has to done before cleaning the glasses. The glass panes will not get spotted with the solution then.

The anodized aluminium of clear or coloured variety can be safely cleaned with water and mild detergent solution, just like the painted frames. You can remove the grease spots from these anodized frames by using solvent cleaners. If the frames are more weathered, then you can make use of slightly stronger cleansers to brighten the frames.

The aluminium window frames should not be cleaned if it is too hot or too cold. The traces of cleaning solution should be removed completely, either by wiping or water rinsing.

Cleaning Window Frames of PVC: You can sparkle your old and worn out PVC window frames by painting them with a quick drying UPVC gloss paint in white colour. Cream cleaners and solvent cleaners also work very well for the PVC window frames. You can regularly wash these frames on a weekly or bi-weekly basis and keep them as white as ever. You can simply use white vinegar on a clean cloth to wipe out the dirt, grease and grime from the PVC window frames.
